Universal Sigh plunges in at Pisgah Brewing

Universal Sigh, from Athens, Georgia, features a two-guitar attack and driving rhythm section that produces versatile music that reflects a fondness for artists like Radiohead, Snarky Puppy and Umphrey’s McGee. The band is playing at 8 p.m., Friday May 25 at Pisgah Brewing. Tickets are $8 advance, $10 door. Log Noggins is opening.
Influenced by a myriad of musical styles, the quartet has crafted a diverse catalog, which includes both lyrical tunes and instrumental arrangements. Universal Sigh’s guitarist and drummer Pace Maynard and Jones Maynard developed together as young musicians, playing for hours in their parents’ basement.
In high school, Jones met songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Steve Terry, and the expansive music scene in Athens paved the way for them to meet Austin Parker, a soulful vocalist with a love for the bass. The band frequently collaborates its original music with special guests, including percussion, guest vocalists and full brass sections.
