Aaron Price finds inspiration in the hymnal
A pervasive music presence in Asheville for the past 20 years, Aaron Price shines as a side man and an arranger. A sought-after accompanist and producer, Price is also a meticulous and talented composer, a side of his musical persona that will be on display at White Horse Black Mountain on Sunday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m.
The concert serves as a celebration of the release of Aaron’s newest CD, "Offering: Hymn Improvisations Vol.1." Price’s passion for sacred music is impossible to miss. His respectful, innovative interpretations lift the hymnal up from the back of the pew, raising the content of that sacred songbook to its deserved heights.
Price comes from a family of church musicians. He’s a classically trained pianist and has enjoyed more than 20 years of success as a professional musician, including 14 years as the music director of West Asheville Presbyterian Church. Price's experience as a performer, sound engineer, composer and teacher across a broad range of styles informs his interpretations of sacred music, revitalizing age-old favorite church songs with the breath of fresh inspiration.
Price has produced and collaborated on more than 30 albums by local and regional artists. As the longtime force behind Collapsible Studios in West Asheville, he is frequently credited as “the man behind the Asheville sound.”
Tickets are $8 advance, $10 door.
