Marcel Anton embodies the soul of Southern music

STAFF REPORTS

The Marcel Anton Band makes a return appearance at White Horse on Friday, Jan. 26 at 7:30 p.m.

Singer-guitarist Marcel Anton is the rare artist with the panache and virtuosity to convincingly pay tribute to heavyweights Jimi Hendrix and Prince on the same show.

This past icy New Year's Eve, he and his all-star band were able to turn up the heat and keep the party cooking at White Horse Black Mountain. The Marcel Anton Band makes a return appearance at White Horse on Friday, Jan. 26 at 7:30 p.m.

Joining Marcel will be Mike Rhodes on drums, Jim Simmons on bass and Alana Fiorenza on backing vocals. Tickets are $12 advance, $15 door.

Anton’s musical roots are as deep and intertwined as the Louisiana bayous surrounding his hometown of New Orleans. Like the city, Anton has a touch of mysticism running through his fiery guitar playing and vocals, and he’s absorbed virtually musical influences of his upbringing in the Big Easy and beyond to become an electrifying performer. Any Marcel Anton show is guaranteed to catch up listeners in its celebratory intensity, tapping into blues, rock, soul and R&B for a true sampler of Southern roots.
