AmiciMusic presents 'The Folk Spirit'
There’s always been interplay and exchange between the art music and folk music worlds, with tunes, instruments and musical forms filtering back and forth. AmiciMusic's "The Folk Spirit" concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 at White Horse Black Mountain will be a program of piano trios inspired by folk sources from several countries.

The concert will include the “Dumky” Trio by Antonin Dvorak, based on native Czech tunes; tango-inspired music from Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla; and the virtuosic ragtime and Dixieland-styled “Cafe Music” by Paul Schoenfield.
The highly respected virtuoso performers for “The Folk Spirit” include AmiciMusic founder and music director Daniel Weiser on piano, violinist Emmanuel Borowsky and cellist Frances Borowsky. All the players hail from the Baltimore area, where Weiser also coordinates AmiciMusic concerts.
AmiciMusic is a chamber music organization that is dedicated to bringing the highest quality chamber music to intimate and nontraditional spaces in an effort to break down barriers between performer and audience. The informal setting allows for a greater exchange of ideas between artists and listeners, including informative talks about each piece and the composers’ lives.
Tickets are $18 advance/$20 door.
