‘House Band’ returns for big July 4th bash

From staff reports

The House Band, formally known as the 96.5 House Band, is back at Lake Tomahawk on July 2. The band’s performance is part of the Black Mountain Recreation and Parks’ Park Rhythms Concert Series.

The band performed at Lake Tomahawk 10 years ago to great success. Bassist Pat Ryan remembers that show vividly. “The place was packed 20 minutes before showtime,” he said. “We played until well past dark. That was a great gig.”

The band has since played the Black Mountain July 4th celebration nine out of the last 10 years.

Lead vocalist Chris Hoffman is excited to be performing at Park Rhythms Concert Series once again. “We love playing Black Mountain and are looking forward to bringing Tom Jones, Wilson Pickett, The Eagles, Kool and the Gang, Elvis, The Beatles and lots more classic songs to the Park Rhythms stage.”

Together since 2002, the House Band has supported legendary acts such as the Beach Boys, The Temptations, Seals and Seals (Jim and Dan), The Drifters, The Rascals and Beatles Tribute Band 1964.

“If you’re not up and dancing to these songs, you’ll be singing along to them,” guitarist Frank Verhaeghe said.

The House Band hits the Lake Tomahawk stage at 7 p.m.
