Punk shows to play at Pisgah Brewing

The Asheville Rock Collective is putting on a series of punk and indie rock shows at Pisgah Brewing Co. this month.

The Dirty Badgers play at Pisgah Brewing on Feb. 22.

The free shows begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Feb. 1-22 and feature two bands each night. The series also includes Sunday shows Feb. 4 and 11 at Fleetwood’s, a music and wedding venue on Haywood Road in West Asheville that used to be a pawn shop.

Inspired by the Happenings at Black Mountain College, writer J.P. Kennedy created an Easter Egg suit for a performance a few years back in Asheville.

The series, which began in late January, features 16 local punk and heavy rock bands and has been organized by Black Mountain resident J.P. Kennedy and Derek Frye of the Dirty Badgers as a way to spotlight local, original music that isn’t bluegrass or jam-based.

Here’s the schedule for the Pisgah shows (to find out the schedule of Fleetwood’s shows, look up Fleetwood’s on Facebook).

  • Feb. 1: The Dirty Soul Revival and Brothrs (formerly Carolina Wray)
  • Feb. 8: The Cannonball Jars and The Mercury Arcs
  • Feb. 15: Hard Rocket and Egg Eaters
  • Feb. 22: The Dirty Badgers and The Stump Mutts
