Montreat College hosts annual pops concert May 6

Montreat College will host its annual Pops Concert on Saturday, May 6 at 7 p.m. in Montreat’s Anderson Auditorium.

Musical selections for this year’s concert will include “My Shot!” from “Hamilton,” “The Impossible Dream” from “Man of La Mancha,” “The Toreador Song” from “Carmen,” hymns of the U.S. Armed Forces and a “Western medley” of music from “The Good, the Bad & the Ugly,” “The Magnificent Seven” and “Hang ‘em High.”

Local community members are invited to join Montreat College staff and students in attendance.

The Pops Concert will feature performances by the Montreat College Choir, the Montreat Chamber Orchestra and the college’s contemporary ensembles. The concert will be preceded by a barbecue picnic on Gaither Commons, just up the hill from the auditorium, featuring performances from Montreat College’s contemporary ensembles.

The picnic begins at 5:30 p.m. Concert admission is $10. Admission and a meal is $20 (free to Montreat College staff and students, $5 to non-Montreat students). For more and to purchase advance tickets, visit montreat.edu/pops-concert.
