All are invited aboard for the Apocalypse

Warren Wilson Theatre presents Jose Rivera’s “Marisol,” the third production of its “Not Suitable for Children” 2015-16 season, at 7:30 p.m. March 3-5 and 2:30 p.m. March 6 at Kittredge Theatre on the Warren Wilson College campus.

Marisol Perez is a well-educated and practical upper middle class professional in New York City. Her life is generally stable and predictable, but after an attack by a golf club-wielding madman is thwarted by mysterious forces, she receives a visit from an unlikely character - her guardian angel.

Unfortunately, she’s bearing some bad news - God has gone senile, the angels are going to war to save humanity from its creator, and Marisol will be left to fend for herself through the apocalypse.

As her familiar comforts disintegrate into menacing chaos, Marisol must find the strength and wits to keep herself alive and protect her friends as they come to grips with a new reality.

Guest-directed by Asheville photographer and playwright Rodney Smith, “Marisol” incorporates surreal spectacle, social commentary and dark absurdist humor, supported by scene and lighting design by Don Baker and costume design by Bev Ohler.

All performances are open to the public. It’s free to WWC faculty, staff, high school and college students with I.D., alumni, WWC spouses. The general public pays $10. The play is not recommended for people under 17.
