Golf tournament to help local charities

From staff reports

Premier Sales and Marketing, a local Black Mountain-based food broker, has announced the seventh annual Douglas Clark Brinkley Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at Black Mountain Golf Course on Oct. 1.

The past six tournaments have resulted in more than $43,000 being given to meet local needs in the Swannanoa Valley. The tournament was created after Clark Brinkley, a local resident of Black Mountain, passed away in 2008. Jeff Brinkley, his son and business partner, decided to turn their business golf tournament into a charity event to honor the giving legacy his father was known for.

Organizers are asking local charities to submit requests for tournament proceeds by emailing jbrinkley@premiersalesnc.com or mailing to Premier Sales, PO Box 1420, Black Mountain, NC 28711, attention Jeff Brinkley.

Tournament director Jeff Brinkley has chosen to support local veterans again this year by partnering with “Warrior Service Dogs,” a local group that matches veterans with local shelter dogs. Anyone who is interested in playing golf or donating funds can contact Brinkley at 664-0522, or jbrinkley@premiersalesnc.com.
