Fine Arts League opens annual juried show

This piece by Peggy King, entitled "Where's the Party" will be one of many on display at that Swannanoa Valley Fine Arts League's annual juried show when it opens at the Red House Gallery on July 12.

The countdown is on for this year's Swannanoa Valley Fine Arts League’s Annual Juried Show.

The organization, which consists of a colorful and exploding membership of artists, will showcase some of their most dazzling works as chosen by esteemed juror Sherry Masters, founder of Asheville’s Art Connection and formerly at the helm of the Grovewood Gallery.

All mediums will be represented in the diverse display, which is being curated by Shelley Schenker. Two-dimensional and three-dimensional pieces, including oils, fiber arts, metal and graphite, will be on display.

The opening reception will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. on Friday July 12, at the Red House Studios and Gallery, 310 West State Street. The display will run through Sept. 9.

The three-dimensional piece by Susan Wilkerson will be featured in the Swannanoa Valley Fine Arts League's annual juried show when it opens on July 12.

The Swannanoa Valley Fine Arts League has been in existence for 51 years and celebrates creative freedom. Membership is open to all.

The gallery hours are Monday - Saturday, 10 a.m to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m to 3 p.m. For more information call 669-0351.
