Acoustic Corner instructors return to Arts Center for annual show
It’s that time again. The instructors at Black Mountain’s famous Acoustic Corner have been arranging their schedules and getting together to rehearse for the annual Acoustic Corner Instructor’s concert at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts.
A 12-year tradition that for many marks the start of the holiday season, this eclectic concert is a rollicking, foot-stomping celebration of all things acoustic.
On Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m., the Arts Center will welcome this talented and diverse group of musicians who split their time between busy concert schedules and teaching at the iconic fine stringed instrument shop tucked away in the heart of Black Mountain. Tickets for this popular show cost $20, sell quickly and can be purchased by calling 828-669-0930 or online at blackmountainartis.org.
The mix of talent this year may include Laurie Fisher, Billy Presnell, David Zoll, Matt Kinne and Gary Mackey who took the BMCA stage for the first time last year and dazzled the audience with his fiddling. These musicians/instructors are all well respected in the community and put on quite a show. It is not uncommon for a former instructor or two to join the fray, delighting audiences each year.
“I always look forward to this show,” says Black Mountain Center for the Arts Executive Director Gale Jackson who has seen every one of them. “These musicians have grown in their talent every year. They can be seen in the region in concert almost any weekend and are a meaningful part of not just the musical community, but our Black Mountain community as well. We’ve become friends and neighbors and this concert is a way to celebrate that.”
Lucky ticket holders will be celebrating the musicianship of those on stage and the immense fun they have playing together.
This year’s concert is a week earlier than usual, so mark your calendar and buy your tickets now.
Tickets can be purchased at blackmountainarts.org or by calling 828.669.0930. The Black Mountain Center for the Arts is located at 225 West State Street.
