Artists from local league share work in annual juried exhibit

From Staff Reports

Wildlife artist Bob Travers will serve as the juror for the Swannanoa Valley Fine Arts League annual juried exhibit, which opens at the Red House on Friday, July 13.

The exhibit features the artists' best work and provides them with valuable feedback from a professional in the field.

Travers, a resident of Fletcher, is a graduate of the Pratt Institute in New York. His detailed depictions of wildlife has earned him countless awards and international recognition.

Participating artists will receive personalized critiques from Travers, providing them with a better understanding of professional standards and motivation to elevate their work.

The SVFAL contains a wide array of artists. Representing many mediums and styles, some are beginning their experience as creatives while others are award winning professionals.

The league, which was established in 1967, is a non-profit organization with nearly 100 members based out of The Red House Studios & Gallery adjacent to the Monte Vista Hotel.

The opening for the exhibit will take place from 5-7 p.m. and will include light refreshments. The public is welcome.

The show will run through Sunday, Sept. 9.
