AmiciMusic salutes Jewish jazz

STAFF REPORTS
The Amici Music series, historically one of White Horse Black Mountain’s most popular draws, returns with a special program, “Jewish Jazz” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24. Pianist Daniel Weiser and clarinetist Steve Loew will explore the uniquely American music that blossomed in the interaction of Eastern European Jewish immigrant communities in New York City and African Americans moving north in the Great Migrations, forging one of this country’s great musical fusions. The concert will feature George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” along with works by Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman and more. AmiciMusic seeks to break down barriers between artist and audience with performances of chamber music in informal and nontraditional venues. Loew has been a featured soloist in a number of AmiciMusic programs. Weiser is its artistic director. Tickets are $18 advance/$20 door.
