Bill Mattocks Band rides into White Horse
The Bill Mattocks Band’s tightly rehearsed, high-energy shows were a mainstay of the Seattle area’s blues rock scene. And now that the vocalist, guitarist and harmonica player lives in Asheville, he's still performing with the same hard-working ethic in venues in the South. The group’s bluesy sounds will steam up White Horse Black Mountain on Friday, Aug. 25.
Although the lineup of his bands has changed over time and geography, the constants have been Mattocks’ gritty vocals and a unique personal harmonica style deeply rooted in the blues. He also surrounds himself with excellent players who crank out a big sound, including vocalist Jacqui Fehl and Tim McCall on bass, Bob Bencze on vocals, Brian Gant on keys and Alec Fehl on guitar.
In a previous life Bob Hinkle, owner of White Horse Black Mountain, managed the J Geils Band. As a special treat for him and White Horse patrons, the Bill Mattocks Band will serve up a couple of high-energy covers from the Geils band’s old set lists, along with a full evening of blues, soul, R&B and rock.
