Four Western North Carolina football games will be televised live on WMYA-TV (40) in October.
The games will kick off at the usual time - 7:30 p.m. - but they will be played on Thursday night instead of Friday. The NCHSAA is allowing live TV broadcasts of statewide games for the first time next season.
Mitchell at Polk County kicks off the schedule Oct. 8, followed by Erwin at Roberson on Oct. 15. Owen at Hendersonville will be televised Oct. 22, and Asheville High at North Buncombe will be aired Oct. 29.
WLOS/WMYA general manager Jack Connors said he hopes WMYA can expand its broadcast offerings for North Carolina to 10 or more games in 2016. The station will continue to show live South Carolina games as it has done for the past seven years.
