Roast beef is on this fundraiser’s menu

Grove Stone Baptist Church will hold a fundraiser from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15 to raise money for mission projects. Come get some roast beef, mashed potatoes, green beans seven-layer salad, dessert and drink, $9, eat-in or take-out. The church is at 1568 Grove Stone Road, Black Mountain.

Rite of Catholic Initiation of Adults classes begin

If you've been thinking about the Catholic faith - maybe you're new to the church or perhaps baptized Catholic and have been away for a while and considering a return to your faith, the “R.C.I.A.” Rite of Catholic Initiation of Adults classes begin Sunday, Sept. 17. The place is St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 102 Andrews Place, Swannanoa.

Reserve a spot at Broad River’s indoor yard sale

Broad River Fire Department will hold an indoor craft and yard sale on Saturday, Sept. 23. Craftsmen and yard sale enthusiasts can reserve an indoor table at the Broad River Community Center to sell their goods. The cost is $10 per table; to reserve a space, call Susie at (828) 779-7876 or Becky at (828) 388-0360. This is one of the fire department’s annual fundraisers.

Library’s mystery series picks up “Time’s Witness”

The Friends of the Black Mountain Library offers the second in its “Let’s Talk About It” book series at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25. Focusing on mysteries, this series continues with a discussion of “Time’s Witness” by Michael Malone. Visiting scholar Julie Cantner will provide background information to enhance understanding of the book and its meaning.

Copies of this book will be available for check out at the Black Mountain Library for program participants. To reserve a copy and register, stop by the library. There is no fee to register. This series will continue with a program about a different book and visiting scholar every two weeks until Nov. 6.
