More than 30 members of the Black Mountain Beautification Committee spent Oct. 14 transforming downtown Black Mountain into a fall spectacular.
Rocky and Rockette, the iconic scarecrows that oversee Town Square each fall, were joined this year by several other “funcrows” in adult and kid sizes.
Three of the “funcrows” were assembled by students and teachers at the Black Mountain Primary School and placed by the signs welcoming all to Black Mountain. Other areas of town were also decorated with hay bales, corn shocks, decorative gourds and fall mums, including the “Welcome to Black Mountain” signs that greet residents and visitors.
The decorations would not be complete without the giant spider looking out over our town, creating the perfect photo opportunity for visitors to the square.
The Black Mountain Beautification Committee uses proceeds from fundraising events throughout the year, as well as donations to fund the decorating of town in the fall and for Christmas.
