WNC Knitter knit (and crochet) for others
The WNC Knitters & Crocheters for Others will meet Thursday, Feb. 15 (and the third Thursday of every month, except December) from 1-3 p.m. at Givens Highland Farms, building G-H on Brookside Avenue, in the Birch Room.
All knitters & crocheters are welcome. The group makes items for single mothers, homeless shelters, ill, abused or traumatized children, victims of domestic violence, as well as newborns at Mission Hospital. Local nonprofits encouraged to apply for endowment fund grants
The Black Mountain–Swannanoa Valley Endowment Fund, an affiliate of The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, is accepting applications for its spring grant cycle from nonprofits serving the Swannanoa Valley. The grants will range in size from $2,500-$10,000 and will focus on projects and programs relating to health and wellness, education, cultural and natural resources and people in need. Duplicate bridge group posts results from Feb. 6
The Lake Tomahawk Duplicate Bridge Group played at the Lakeview Center on Lake Tomahawk in Black Mountain on Feb. 6 and had a great time.

Friends of Blue Ridge Road to meet at library
Friends of Blue Ridge Road will hold a public meeting Wednesday, Feb. 21, 5-6:45 p.m. at the Black Mountain Library meeting room. The purpose of the meeting is to see how many residents are interested in having input on future developments in the Blue Ridge Road vicinity, and to decide whether to meet again.
Owen Golf Team Tournament returns to golf course
The 23rd Annual Owen Golf Team Tournament will be held on Saturday, March 3 the Black Mountain Golf Course with a rain/snow date of March 17. The format will be four-person captain's choice. There will be trophies and prizes provided. The cost is $50 per person or $200 per team, which includes lunch. Sign up at the golf course pro shop or by contacting John Knight at 828-713-1005.
