Sadie W. Eaton

Sadie W. Eaton, a resident of Black Mountain from 1960 to 1972, passed away on the 17th of June at Halifax Health Hospice in Ormond Beach, Florida.

Born in 1926 in Harlan County, KY., Sadie moved to Giles County, VA where she attended public schools. Sadie and her husband, Beverly T Eaton, moved to Ormond Beach, FL in 1974. Sadie was a self-taught woman with skills in sewing and child care. She dedicated her life to her 5 children, ensuring they received the best education in all aspects of character-building. Sadie believed in community service and volunteered for charitable causes her entire life. She volunteered for the American Heart Association, various PTA programs, teacher’s aide at Osceola Elementary School, and band parent at Seabreeze High School. Sadie was the matriarch of a large family of 5 children, 10 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

Sadie was preceded in death by her parents, Cora and Harmon Woodyard, her husband, Beverly T. Eaton, 11 siblings, and 1 grandchild. Sadie is survived by 1 sister (Pauline); 5 children (Joseph, Michael, Gary, Lynn, and Christopher); 11 grandchildren (Shea, Jody, Crystal, Elizabeth, Jonathan, Joseph Lee, Brian, Nicholas, Amber, Matthew, and Jenna); and 6 great-grandchildren (Aiden, Cierra, Madison, Mason, Clair and Cooper West).

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in honor of Sadie W. Eaton may be made to Halifax Health Hospice, 235 Booth Road, Ormond Beach, Florida 32174. Baldwin Brothers Funeral home has been entrusted with arrangements.
