The Black Mountain Police Department identified two men injured early Wednesday morning at 27 Weaver Lane off Cragmont Road in Black Mountain.
Vance William Keeter Sr., 45, suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso and is in stable condition at Mission Hospital. David Michael Weaver, 60, suffered “a head injury” and was released from Mission Hospital.
Police have not released the name of a suspect, but Black Mountain Police Chief Steve Padgett said all the parties involved in the incident have been accounted for.
“There is no public threat,” he said.
The incident is still under investigation and the case is being reviewed by the district attorney office, he said. No charges have been filed yet.
The incident caused heightened security at Mission Hospital this morning.
“Anytime we receive a call of a gunshot wound or a stabbing or someone comes in with a gunshot wound or stabbing we go on heightened security,” Rowena Timms, a hospital spokesperson, said.
Timms said the hospital went off heightened security around 8:30 a.m. after conferring with police. She said the emergency room was accessible the entire time.
